The HISD Multimedia Department in collaboration with the non-profit community organization AVANCE has created a new television program designed to empower our non-native English speaking parents to learn English and become more involved in their children’s education. The 15-minute program, Avanzando con HISD, includes a 10 minute English lesson and a 5 minute parent engagement lesson on topics such as: how to have an effective parent/teacher conference, the importance of making sure your child attends school, and how to help your child with homework. A new episode will air each week on HISD-TV (Comcast channel 18 and AT&T U-verse channel 99) at 10:30 a.m., 4:30 p.m., and 9:30 p.m. daily. All episodes will also be posted online at www.houstonisd.org/avanzando.
¿Quiere aprender inglés?
¿Le interesa participar más en la educación de su hijo?
